Capacity Building Workshop
The YE-CAN Capacity Building Workshop served as a transformative two-day training that brought together over 50 youth leaders from across Gombe State to learn about climate entrepreneurship, project design, and environmental advocacy. it is designed to empower youth with the knowledge and tools to lead climate action in their communities.
Participants engaged in practical modules on project ideation, proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, and digital advocacy. Through breakout groups, simulations, and case studies, youth leaders developed actionable project plans addressing local climate issues like deforestation, flooding, and waste management.
The workshop fostered a strong sense of community and collaboration, with many attendees forming teams to co-lead future initiatives. Several sessions were facilitated by mentors from NGOs and environmental agencies, offering firsthand insight into funding opportunities and policy frameworks.

Mentorship Sessions
As part of the YE-CAN development track, we hosted a dynamic series of online mentorship sessions designed to provide youth advocates with personalized guidance from seasoned professionals. Conducted over Zoom, the sessions focused on core skills needed to scale climate action projects such as crafting winning proposals, navigating funding pipelines, influencing climate policy, and launching environmentally conscious ventures.
Each session featured live Q&A, expert storytelling, and one-on-one check-ins where mentees could refine their ideas and receive feedback. Topics ranged from climate tech entrepreneurship to community organizing, creating an accessible and flexible learning environment for youth spread across Gombe and beyond.
The mentorship series not only built technical knowledge but also sparked lasting relationships between mentors and mentees many of whom continue to collaborate beyond the program.

Advocacy Visits to Gombe State Ministries
As part of the YE-CAN initiative, the YandyTech Community conducted strategic advocacy visits to key government bodies in Gombe State. These visits aimed to engage policymakers on youth-led climate solutions, secure partnerships, and integrate young voices into environmental governance frameworks.
Delegations led by project champion Mohammed Bayero Yayandi visited the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, and the Gombe State SDGs Support Office. Each visit included detailed presentations of YE-CAN’s goals and requests for technical support, policy backing, and inter-agency collaboration.
The visits helped amplify youth voices, open channels for inter-ministerial collaboration, and lay the foundation for more inclusive climate policy development in Gombe State.
